Radu Lupu Live, Vol. 3 - Mozart, Beethoven, Stravinsky, Chopin, Brahms, Shchedrin
After winning the Leeds International Piano competition in 1969, Radu Lupu went on to become one of the most admired and respected classical pianists of his generation. He was noted for his unique blend of sensitivity and musical insight and was heard frequently at concert halls throughout the world. Lupu made relatively few recordings for an artist of his eminence, therefore the live performances here presented in our Volume 3 are of particular interest: London, 1974 concerts of two Mozart concerti; Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, London, September 2, 1971; Chopin from his Leeds recital of April 19, 1970; Brahms Intermezzi and the Shostakovich Piano Quintet from his London concert of March 5, 1973. Finally, Shchedrin’s Humoresque from London, December 9, 1974.
