2020 release. French saxophonist Matthieu Bordenave's first leader for ECM introduces new project, La traversee, with German pianist Florian Weber and Swiss bassist Patrice Moret. Exploring between contemporary composition and jazz, it's subtly influenced by innovations of the Jimmy Giuffre 3, guided by an approach to trio playing "in which melodic lines interweave and blossom in the nuances of tones, as each musician follows his intuition." La traversee was recorded last autumn, produced by Manfred Eicher.
