Stuttgart opera, dubbed “Winter Bayreuth” during the 1950s-mid-1960s, played host to this January 1954 production of Carl Maria von Weber’s Euryanthe that, indeed, stars two celebrated Bayreuth participants, Wolfgang Windgassen and Gustav Neidlinger. The obscure Polish dramatic soprano Maria Kinasiewicz, whose presence on records, live or studio, is just about limited to this fine performance, stars as Eglantine alongside the better known if hardly better represented on record soprano Trude Eipperle as Euryanthe. Ferdinand Leitner conducts; re-mastered in 24bit/96kHz audio.
